Tree work is hard, demanding, challenging, dangerous and one of the most rewarding ways to earn a living. I started doing tree work at a very young age. I am not sure that anyone who hasn't grown up on a family tree business ever says " I want to run a tree service when I grow up," this is an industry that most people don't think a lot about unless they need some pruning done or a tree dies in their yard, or even worse, falls down from a storm. I think most young men try tree work as a short term occupation and then the ones that love it stay. I love tree work. Every day is different, each job has its own challenges, and your problem-solving skills are honed to a fine point. I have almost 40 years of experience in this business and I love every minute of it. I have raised a family while doing this and love the fact that my children learned a lot of life lessons by growing up in a family owned business. They grew up going on estimates with me, sometimes answering phone calls and when they were older helping out with social marketing. My wife has been working alongside of me for over 35 years, working in the office and in the early years, even running a stump grinding. A family owned business in one of the great foundations of our country. I am grateful for all of it. Thanks for stopping by this blog. It will be chronicling the trials, tribulations, and adventures of tree life. Please stop by in the future, for hopefully more interesting posts. For now, it is back to work, it is a sweltering 85 degrees but with the heat index it feels like 94, and we are taking down a bunch of trees today for someone who is putting in a pool. One of the worst things about taking down trees on a day like today is that you are eliminating all of your own shade.
